About My Mathematics Instruction
Conceptual understanding
When looking into Mathematics, Education really focuses on conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving and not just focus on memorization. With shifts in instruction, teachers are encouraged to use real world situations, hands on learning, and opportunities so that students can explain their thinking.
Equality in Math
Something that research really encourages and talks about the importance of equality in math, This makes sure that all students, no matter background, have the ability to access instruction and are able to achieve success. When students have equality in math they are able to create strong mindsets in math and are willing to then take risks, understand productive struggle, and share ideas(Deng, X., Yu, H., & Li, J.,2026).
A Mathematical mindset
Helps students see challenges as opportunities to grow not as a signs of failure. As I go through learning in this course, I will add information about standards, teaching strategies, and effective math pedagogy to strengthen my instructional approach.
